Hong Kong - A viral video masked as revenge attack on an ex-boyfriend has received more than three million hits and doubled traffic to the Perfect C breast enhancer site.Working within a limited budget to reach local women, Eight Partnership created a viral campaign for Perfect C breast enhancer site featuring a young woman taunting her ex-boyfriend for ditching her because of her inadequate assets.Jeanne Zhao-Clot, sales and marketing manager for Perfect C Breast Enhancer, said the viral campaign is an example of achieving good results with limited budget.
The company previously launched campaigns in English print media such as SCMP and HK Magazine but decided to use the web for this campaign to reach out to the local Chinese population as Zhao-Clot said there is more potential.
Zhao-Clot added that using the web to reach out to her target audience fits well with the current trend that youths spend a lot of time online.
She said the company's website had doubled in traffic and they have received more inquiries on the product, since the launch. It had more than a million views on Tudou before being taken down by the site after three days with 600,000 views on 56.com and more than 1.05 million hits on YouTube.A second video featuring her ex-boyfriend's response and showcase of UK breast enhancement brand has rolled out on Friday."By creating a story around the product, we added the extra twist that made it a true winner, compared to the typical advertisements in this category which merely feature celebrities and models,"Chris Kyme, creative partner for Eight, said.He added the story was crucial in attracting viewers, leaving a lasting impression as well as generating further discussion.

Do something: Earthquake Haiti
Seriously, Singapore government, I know you've had a tough year in 2009, what with dipping into the reserves and everything. But a sum of US$50,000 for Haiti and the victims of the earthquake?
NOT COOL.
As MrBrown succinctly puts it:
100,000 estimated deaths. US$50,000 from our generous government. That's 50 cents for every dead soul. US currency, ok? So it is almost a dollar Singapore money for the Haitians.
Why ah? GIC lost too many hundreds of millions in that Manhattan project ah?
I have two words for you, Singapore Gahmen: Cheap Bastards.
So to make up for our government's pitiful donation, please donate donate donate. (And preferably something more than our government's 'generous' donation of S$1 per person.)
One of the channels to do so is through the Singapore Red Cross, which has said that it will channel any donations made to help the quake victims in Haiti to the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies.
According to their website, donations can be made via:
1) Cheque donations
Donations via cheque can be sent to the Singapore Red Cross @ 15 Penang Lane, Singapore 238486. Please include name, contact details and “Earthquake Haiti” at the back of the cheque.
2) Walk-in donations
Donors may make their cash/cheque donations at the Singapore Red Cross @ 15 Penang Lane (near Dhoby Gaut MRT Station) during its office hours, Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 5.30pm.
For more information on the IFRC relief operation on Earthquake Haiti, please visit www.ifrc.org or the SRC at www.redcross.org.sg
(If you have more information on other charities that are working in Haiti now, please post it in the comments below and I will update it on the blog.)
And here's a song about Haiti by the awesum Arcade Fire. Régine Chassagne, who sings in this song, has roots in Haiti as her family migrated to Canada during the dictatorship of Jean-Claude Duvalier.

2010 New Year's Resolution: Stop pitting body shapes against each other!
www.nataliedee.com
More British women say they would prefer to look like curvy Kate Winslet than skinny Victoria Beckham.
According to Jezebel, in a poll of 2,000 British women commissioned by weight-loss company Slimming World, Kate Winslet came out on top as the star whose figure was "most desired". She got 16% of the vote, closely followed by TV presenter Kelly Brook with 15% and Halle Berry with 12%. Bringing up the rear were Kate Moss, Posh, and Jordan, with 1% each.
Slimming World also released a statement that said:
It shows a positive shift that women are more likely to see Kate Winslet and Kelly Brook as the ideal body shape rather than Kate Moss or Victoria Beckham. Here's a resolution for the new year -- How about we stop holding up one body shape, whether it be a curvy or skinny one, as the one and only "standard ideal". How about acknowledging the fact that human bodies come in a variety of shapes and sizes. How about we ensure that no one should feel like they should work towards attaining another celebrity's body shape/size, simply because they are two distinct individuals with two different bodies!?
It perhaps suggests that it is not being "skinny" that is most important to them anymore, it is being healthy.
For the love of 2010, please stop this shit.
But happy new year anyway!

People we love: Tegan & Sara
So I thought I would inject some cheer by posting a video by one of my all-time favourite bands Tegan & Sara!!! Whooo!!
If you don't know who Tegan & Sara are, they're a twin rock duo from Canada who are....wait for it...gay.
OMFG LIKE WHAT!
Yeap, and while they haven't hidden their sexuality from their fans, they haven't used it as a marketing gimmick either (*cough Katy Perry is fake and exploitative cough*).
However, Tegan & Sara's sexuality (they're a lesbian rock band! lesbianz!) has certainly been of interest to the media, especially in their early days, when music reviewers/journalists preferred to talk about their sexuality than their music. Take for instance this indie music blogger who started a review of their gig by talking about how many lesbians/women there were.
Would a straight male-dominated rock band get the same type of treatment? Uh no. No serious music reviewer goes to a heavy metal gig and talks about how many men there are in the crowd.
Fucking double standards.
But anyway, here's a video about Tegan & Sara talking to Causecast about gay rights and about having their sexuality out in the open right from the very beginning of their careers. You can even read the entire interview here too.
I'm also posting up Tegan & Sara's song I was Married, which was featured on their fifth album The Con. In the song, Sara writes about her civil union with her partner Emy Storey and the opposition they faced only because they were trying to marry the person they loved most in the world.
And it shouldn't have to be that way. But that's what LGBTQ rights are basically are-- seeking equal (not more, not less) rights to that which straight people are given.
Two consenting adults, straight or otherwise, who truly love each other should never have to seek the permission of voters or the legislation in order to get married.
That's just fucking wrong.

Marriage will save your soul!
www.nataliedee.com
Listen up single mothers of Kelantan! Were you left in lurch by your previous husband or maybe he's even dead? Are you now poor and unable to support your family as well? Have no fear, for the Malaysian government is here!
According to The Star, when asked on how the government plans to reduce the number of divorce cases and provide support for single mothers, one brilliant suggestion was put forward:
Kelantan Women, Family and Health committee chairman Wan Ubaidah Omar suggested that awards be given to assemblymen for marrying single mothers should they decide to take another wife.
Her suggestion drew support from backbenchers -- all of them men -- who started thumping their palms on the table at the Kelantan State Assembly on Wednesday.
She said the assemblymen could increase their quota to help single mothers with young children and it would help greatly if the assemblymen assisted by marrying them.
Yes. What would we do about these silly women who have no source of income and drain the state of RM2 million a year? Instead of helping these women become self-reliant and providing a support system for them, how about we sell them off to men like chattel instead?
In turn, the men who marry these burdens of the state would be honoured for their magnanimous hearts and made to look like role models! Hurrah hurrah!
Malaysian blogger Tropic Temper said it best when she wrote:
These women are in trouble because men had children by them and then walked out and refused to pay child support. So do we believe in going after these men to pay their debts? Nope. We think the wife should find herself another magnificent specimen of manhood - someone who will marry her if you pay him enough.
And before you use this as a platform to go on an anti-Malaysian bashing, may I remind you that our little red dot of an island isn't much better. Here, single mothers are punished by the government for spreading their legs without having a ring on their finger.
The best example? Single women currently only have two months of maternity leave which paid for by the employer compared to the four months that married mothers receive. Why? Because the third and fourth months are paid for by the government. As part of the Marriage and Parenthood Package, the other two months are supposed to be "an incentive for married couples".
So sluts like single mothers don't qualify, geddit?
In explaining the government's position of not extending the baby bonus to single unwed mothers, Mrs Yu-Foo (Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports) said, "The Marriage and Parenthood Package is not a financial assistance scheme for children. The government cannot and should not be the surrogate father."
The government will instead focus on encouraging more Singaporeans to settle down and get married.
What bullshit.
